This Cardboard Live patent supplements a stream of a fantasy card game with information helpful to the stream viewer, such as information about where a viewer can buy certain game cards.
Overview:
U.S. Patent No. 11,014,004 (the ‘004 patent) relates to supplementing a stream of a fantasy card game with information helpful to the stream viewer, like purchase information. The ‘004 patent details a method of supplementing a video stream from a video game streaming engine by collecting information over a network connection. This is achieved by electronically accessing the streaming engine, acquiring from the engine card name data for at least one card, and cross referencing it with a marketplace database. Card purchase data is retrieved from the marketplace and an electronic offer display indicating the card and purchase data is generated. The offer display is transmitted to the viewer through the network connection and displayed in conjunction with the stream. The ‘004 patent could allow better integration, card finding, and shopping for viewers of fantasy card game streams.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and system for supplementing a video stream of a fantasy card videogame, such as an online videogame electronically played between multiple players across a gaming platform, the gameplay being streaming with a streaming platform. The method and system includes receiving card name data from a game log that indicates a fantasy card being played in the game of the video stream. The method and system accesses a marketplace database using the card name data and electronically retrieves card purchase data therefrom, the card purchase data relating to a commercial transaction for a collectible card referenced by the card name data. Therein, the method and system generates an electronic offer display indicating the collectible card and the card purchase data and transmits the offer to a viewer application associated with a streaming application for displaying the electronic offer display in conjunction with the video stream.
