Issued July 14, 2020, to Electronic Arts Inc.
Filed: February 8, 2019 (claiming priority to March 4, 2011)

Overview:

U.S. Patent No. 10,709,985 (the ‘985 patent) relates to creating gameplay recommendations for players by comparing gameplay between games. The ‘985 patent details receiving, from a first game console, via a video game server, the results of gameplay by a first user. Then receiving from a second console, the gameplay results of a second user, selected because the second user has: a second game play asset similar to that of the first user, a similar gameplay timeline, or both. Then producing by comparison of the two game play results, a message recommending the first user to improve a future gameplay result. The message references the second user’s result and is communicated to the first user. The ‘985 patent could allow dynamically changing gameplay help recommendations, which could better reflect the meta of the game or the tactics of a similarly skilled player, rather than a set route a developer initially foresaw.

Abstract:

Methods and apparatus for automatic game generation are described. The method may include receiving, from a first video game console, a first game play result of a first user playing a video game; receiving, from a second video game console, a second game play result of a second user playing the video game; producing, by comparing the first game play result with the second game play results, a message comprising a recommendation for the first user to improve a future game play result over the first game play result, wherein the message further references the second game play result; and communicating the recommendation to the first user.
